September 29th to October 3rd 2015 Leaving Decatur, OH

We left Decatur, OH on the 29th after having the hydraulic hoses for the jacks replaced and it is good to be back on the road.

Our fist stay was at Wright Patterson AFB.  It was the first time we have stayed here.  It's a huge base and the famcamp was very nice and we met some really nice people.

We toured the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, OH.  If the whole museum would have been open it would have taken two days to see it all.

Then the trip turned GOLDEN and a memory I will never forget.
All of you know I am a dog lover. As luck would have it the Famcamp is right across from where the K9 kennels are.  I had been waiting for them to bring the dogs out to work but it never happened.
On Friday morning all that would change.  Bill was looking out the window and reported that a group of people were gathering by the kennel.  We got our shoes and coats on and I grabbed the camera and asked if we could join the tour.  I explained to a guy parking cars that seeing the dogs was on my bucket list and when he said YES I hugged him.  I didn't understand till we got into the tour that these guys were the dog handlers during the Vietnam war in Da Nang.  It was my honor to photograph the group.
They nicknamed me "gunny" because I gave direction and they followed.  I also got emotional when I was asked to photograph two gentlemen.  They were together 50 years ago when one handed off his dog to the other.  I was holding it together really well until the question "did you have to bury him" came up.  I was glad the answer was "no".  To hear these guys talk about their dogs was a special moment for me.  The way they walked with me through the kennel and told me their stories was so special for me.
Most women love to get things for me this was the best gift Bill could have given me.  I don't know how he will top this.
So the bad part is I can't post any of the dog pictures on the blog but I have
these I can share.

This was a photo on the wall of the kennel

We will be setting in Georgetown, KY near Frankfort till Tuesday when we head for Hershey, PA and then off to Washington, D.C.

Hope everyone is staying warm.  We are very COLD!
