Now for my next RV story!
We pulled into Brantley Lake State Park in New Mexico. This park is about 17 miles from Carlsbad and 8 miles off the main road and it is worth every mile.
The fun began AFTER we were settled in. We were hooked up to 30 amp. which is no big deal except we kept popping the breaker. By the time the sun went down we figured out that it was a breaker problem and not us having to many things on.
At this point it is not only dark but COLD! We walked over to the campground hosts trailer and told him our problem. He said NO PROBLEM just move to one of the first come first served sights that has 50 amp. He was kind enough to give us the three sights that he thought were open and we drove around to see if luck was on our side. We found a pull through that was open so we drove back to the RV and pulled everything in and moved our site. Bill said the electric cord was frozen so the task of packing up was not so easy and it was VERY COLD & DARK.
We move the RV to the other side of the campground and set everything up AGAIN!
I already said it was COLD and we decided it would be smart to let the water drip so it wouldn't freeze and I was very proud in the morning that the water was still dripping....until Bill found the shower was full of water because the gray water was over full. GREAT!!
First Bill took a couple of buckets of water out of the shower and once again we packed up the rig and it's early and still COLD and we drive carefully to the dump station.
Of course the task of dumping in the COLD was so much fun but needed to be done. After that was complete we drove to our site and hooked everything back up and decided we were going out for breakfast!
So now, on with the pictures.
This is our beautiful campground. This place was really out of the way but so worth the drive.
Then it was off to Carlsbad Caverns. The pictures do not do it justice. I don't have a tri-pod so all my pictures are holding the camera and there is not a lot of light down there.
This is the walk into the cavern.
This is looking back at the path we
that we came in on.
Then there were the views as we left the cavern!!
And that brings us to El Paso and Mission RV Park. It is an ok campground that is right off the express way. It came highly recomended.
We leave here tomorrow and head for Tuscon where we will stay for two nights. It is warming up...a little.
