February 10-20, 2015 The Boys

We have had some wild weather here at Fort Hood.  We have gone from long pants to shorts to winter coats.
We are staying at the Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area because they are overhauling the FamCamp at Fort Hood.  We have gone on the base a few times and it is HUGE.

We have had so much fun with the grandson's.  They are getting so big and make us laugh all the time.  Austin, TX is family friendly with so much to do.  I understand why Brian and Andrea love this place.

This is Ian he is the oldest grandson at three and a half.

Favorite smile!

This is Neil he is two years old.
A special thanks to big brother Ian.  He took the swimming pictures of Neil with grandma's camera.  Good Job Ian!!

Bill and I also made a trip to the Texas State History Museum.
The highlight of the visit was the La Belle

Check out the link above and learn the more about this little ship.
We seen video on how they reclaimed her and some of her treasures.

Drive Friendly HA should say GET OUT OF OUR WAY

We took each of the boys for their own day out.
This is Neil's day out.

We also took Ian out for the day.  He was a blast even with his cough.

On the 20th of February we begin our trip west.
We are so excited to see friends from our Alaska trip and
friends in Sunflower.

February 2-5, 2015 Breaux Bridge, LA

Breaux Bridge, Louisiana is one of the towns we will return to.
We stayed at a campground called Poches RV .

This was a small restaurant in Breaux Bridge.
It was our first real Cajun food and it was
GREAT

crawfish pie, boudin balls, corn and crawfish, shrimp etoufee
gator bites, and catfish.

fried bread pudding with rum butter sauce

Then came the tour of Tabasco.  We toured the plant and the museum.  We also took a Tabasco food tour.  If you ever stop here for the Tabasco tour you have to take the
food tour and ask for George!  He did a great job of telling stories about the culture and the food!!

Left overs.  I have never cleaned my own crawfish!

Chicken and seafood gumbo with potato salad and rice
All new all Good

We had pecan rice here.  We had never had that before.
We had onion soup here.  It didn't photograph well but
tasted great.  Check out here cakes on her web site.

We had the best bread pudding here.  I am not
sure why I didn't get a photo.

Boudin and cracklin, it is nothing like pork rinds

We are now in Houston, TX.  I didn't take any photos here.  We did a lot of running to fix the moving leak under the bus.

Tomorrow we will be in Austin.  I can't wait to see the boys.  We are thinking about taking each one on a day with the grandparents.  Can't wait!!

January 29 to February 2, 2015 New Orleans, LA

We came back to New Orleans this year and took a few more days to walk the town and eat the wonderful food.

We drove from our campground to the ferry.  It was great to see the city from the water.

And this is how we started the morning.

A couple of great dinners.

I love the streets of this town.
So much culture and character.

Now we are of to Breaux Bridge, LA.  We have a food tour booked and plan on touring the Tabasco plant.
The weather here has been a little chilly, but when I look at the weather back home, this is not bad.
