Last Campout With The Blue Water Group

Again our RV group came through when our RV had problems.
Bill got to Pine Ridge RV Park in Frankenmuth before me and got things set up.  He called to tell me there was a funny smell in the RV and the alarm kept going off.
And this is what we found.  The battery was smoking and when I hit it with the fire extinguisher it started to foam.  The guys got the problem under control and we take it down to Cummins on Wednesday to have the electrical checked out.

This is where we camped out for the weekend.  This is also where we will stay when Athena and Nate get married next year.

I went for a walk in the woods the colors were beautiful.

We also had a great dinner.  They call it a haystack.  It is kind of like a taco salad.  And the sweets table was wonderful.

It was also the day of the Michigan - Michigan State game.  I love this flag.

Well now it is time to put the RV to sleep until April.  Then we take our next step to retirement.  We will be moving into the RV as our perminent home.

Bill has a new email address:  chefbill12@gmail.com

Stay warm till spring!

We are on the MOVE!!

At our last camp out we got a phone call that our house has sold and we got the celebrate with some wonderful friends.  Needless to say we have been super busy since that last outing.

Nate, our future son-in-law, helped Bill change the RV batteries.  He was a great help and made it look so easy.
I thought everyone would love to see the pictures of the move.  We sure pitched a lot of stuff but we still have a lot in storage for the kids.

So now we have moved to the apartment and things are slowly getting put where they belong.  We had a lot of cool things happen during this adventure.  We got the last moving truck and a free funiture dolly.  We had the best moving help in the world.  Thank you so much Athena and Nate.  Nate was like a one man moving crew.  He and Bill started at 8 am and we had all the big stuff at the apartment or in storage by 4pm and the best part is Bill and I had fun doing this.  My wonderful husband took a full day off work to clean and finish packing the house.  My job was to clean the carpets when I got out of work.  We are whipped but it was fun.  We are REALLY looking forward to our last campout.  We need some rest.

Blue Water RV'ers @ Walnut Hills in Durand

This weekend was spent with our RV friends in Hawaii/Durand.  Our hosts planned the weekend around a Hawaiian theme complete with pig roast and all.

Saturday morning was a Hawaiian themed breakfast.  We had treats like eggs and rice, spam and pineapple, fruit, and other wonderful treats.

Next on the agenda were beach type games like pass the coconut: Re-Lei Race:

The Winners of the Re-Lei Race

After the games we finished the club hosted the evenings Happy Hour where beautiful drinks were served:
Then came the main meal.  The group had been waiting for the Hawaiian Luau for two months.  The catering company was Mark of Excellence Personal Catering

The dinner was great and we got cleaned up before the wind and rains came through.

Fort Trodd with the Blue Water RVers

This weekend was spent at the Fort Trodd Family Campground and Resort.  We had a section all to ourselves in the very back of the campground.

These are a couple of pictures I took Saturday morning.

And there is always the Saturday morning breakfast buffet.  These people sure can cook and we always have a variety of food.

The weather was hot but there was a really nice breeze so we were able to get in a few hands of cards.

Of course we have to have some kind of RV mishap and we did.   We decided not to put down the pads for the jacks and two of them sunk into the asphalt and did not come up on the first try.  Bill walked over and asked Fred for help and we were able to get the other two jacks up with no damage.

This is a picture of the bike path.  The five miles we rode was really nice.

We got home Thursday and there was no power until 9 PM.  Friday started bright and early.  We had to meet up with some friends who were catering a wedding.  We helped with the event and loaded the RV with lots of food.

Then off to shop for me some new clothes for my new job.  After a successful shopping event I managed to trip in the parking lot of JC Penny.  I twisted my ankle and messed up my pinkie.  Bill offered to take me to the ER (I am so glad he was there) but we didn't have time.

We went by the house and got the directions to the hall in Ann Arbor and off we went.

Steve & Kesha's catering company is called Lunch Naturally and they try to keep everything Green and Organic.  Here Steve and Bill are on Saturday putting together a grill for the jerk chicken.  We started Saturday morning at 8 AM and  cooked for 160 and I think 90 showed up and there was a ton of food left.  Bill and I ate the food we helped make and it was GREAT!  We were done around 10:30 PM.  I think Steve and Kesha got to bed around 3 AM.  We had so much fun working with them.

We finished up the week by grilling hot dogs for two hours for a community event that our Church the Freedom Center has every 4th of July.  It was a great way to end a wonderful vacation.  Now it's time for me to start a new job on Tuesday.

Rain & Cold

Monday we arrived at Bay Harbor Motor Coach Resort

No one came out of their RV's to visit untill happy hour.  We have gotten to know a lot of interesting people.  This is a very nice place that we would never stay at without the discount we got.

Yesterday was not a good day to be out.  It was about 56 degrees, windy and rainy.  We did go out to eat at a place called Staffords The Pier where we both had baked white fish.  It was really good and the vegetable sides were spaghetti squash and green beans that were very nice.
These are the pictures I took after dinner.

This morning we went to a nice deli for breakfast called Cornichons-Cafe .  I had the smoked salmon with tomato bruschetta, red onion, capers and cream cheese on a crusty baguette and Bill had the crab cakes benedict.  The service was wonderful.

We also took a long drive on 119 and the Tunnel of Trees almost made it to Mackinaw City but we took a wrong turn.

Then we drove past (a long way past) The House of Pies when Bill decided to turn around and buy a cherry pie.  I think it will be worth the 20 mile round trip to get it.

Well the sun is out and Bill is doing some cleaning while I finish the blog then we are off for a bike ride.

Our last day in Traverse City

Today we did a road trip to Suttons Bay to check out the wineries.  The scenery was beautiful.

After dinner we walked over to the bay to watch the sunset.  I was surprised to see a few people still in the water.

On our walk back home we encountered a man with a baby raccoon he had found two weeks ago.

Today we are off to the Bay Harbor Resort.  It will probably take us an hour to get there.

Traverse City Wedding

We arrived at the Traverse City State Park on Thursday.  We had rain off and on during our trip up.  Upon arrival we drove the RV to our site and realized that there was NO WAY we could maneuver into it.  We were given six other sites to check out and there was one we could fit into.  After set up we had a few visitors who couldn't believe that a woman was driving the rig through the narrow park roads.  I have a GREAT partner.
Friday we went to the Great Lakes Culinary Institute for lunch.  The food was GREAT!  I think we will travel the USA and eat at culinary schools.

We went into town and found a shop that sells flavored olive oil and balsamic vinegars (http://www.fustinis.com/) I had to buy something here.  After tasting a couple vinegars I chose a ginger & honey balsamic.

Saturday was the wedding.  It was beautiful!  I love to go to ceremonies where the pastor knows the couple.

Today we are off to the art fair and tomorrow we are heading to Bay Harbor.
