Bike Rides

We have been keeping busy visiting with family, making friends and bike riding.  We found a trail we love called Wilderness Park.  The trail is paved but there are easy hills and curves to follow.  We road 13 miles today!!

They have wild life that is not to wild.  I love this turtle and the armadillo.

We also photographed the sunset at Hudson Beach.

Side Trips

We took our first side trip to Tarpon Springs.  This place is known for it's thriving Greek culture and sponge diving.

They have all types and sizes of sponges.  These were two that caught my eye.

There were many old boats around the town but this one looked like it could down at
any minute.

This statue was small but told the story of the town and how they make their money.  We also ate at a wonderful restaurant called Hellas.  Not only was our server great but I had a gyro and Bill had grouper that were fantastic. We could not resist dessert so I had baklava (the best ever) and Bill had tiramisu.

And this sign just made me smile.  Some day my grandbaby will be photographed
like this.

Because I take some pictures with my phone, I forget to post them.  I found this one of a good looking man and thought I would add him to the blog.

We also went to visit Uncle Fred and Aunt Charlene.  She gets to take the neck brace off when she eats so I took these pictures right after dinner. We are praying that the bone would repair quickly so she can get rid of the brace.

These two bring true meaning to "in sickness and in health".  I think its their love for each other and their faith in God that gets them through.  Love you both!!

So this is our first side trip.  We hope to get a couple more in before we leave.

Stay warm!

The Rigs Adventure to Florida

This was the longest time I have ever taken to get to Florida.  We always drove it in two days or flew down.  This trip took ten days and we had a great time.

I hope you enjoy the photos.

Before we left we had a wonderful visit with Andrea, Brian and Ian.

Next we were off to The Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We stayed at Beech Bend Park.  My family camped at this park when I was little.

I am not sure why this was done?

Next stop Louisville, Kentucky and the Louisville Slugger Museum. I love the history here and the tour was fantastic.

See the reflection of the bat on the building below?

We moved farther south to Gulf Shores, Alabama and seen the USS Alabama. This ship was huge. We also toured the USS Drumm. I don't think I would last too long on a sub.

This is a state park that we stopped to check out.

We stayed at Gulf State Park while we were in Alabama. This park was beautiful. We took a ride on the Backcountry bike trail. What started out to be a four mile ride turned into six miles. This is a well kept trail and should not be missed if you are in the area. Just be sure to read the map before you start out.

The baby gators were on display at the nature building at our campground.

We also stopped by the Pensacola Naval Aviation Museum.  I have pictures of my dad by Pappy Boyington's plane.  We used to watch Black Sheep Squadron when I was little.

Above is a picture of the Marine Corp
preparing to celebrate the birth of the

Now for some sights around Gulf Shores.  This place was beautiful.

Our last stop on this adventure was Econfina State Park.  They see a lot of wild animals around here, but we were not that lucky.
