February 2, 2019 Paris

This was our last day in Paris
After we got Bill's glasses fixed we spent the day walking
Bill was feeling really good so we walked about 7 miles.
It was cold and windy but we sucked it up because
when are we going to get back to Paris?

What a name for a restaurant

Notre-Dame
We climbed about 350 of the
400 stairs in the bell tower

My first two candles

A view from the top

I love Gargoyles

The walk up to the bell
tower.  We did not see
Quasimodo

It's beauty took my breath away.

And then they turned on the lights

I fell in love with the architecture.

OUCH!

I finally got all the pictures loaded.
It was an adventure unlike anything we have ever done.

I am going to take this time to say Thank You to my wonderful husband.
Some of you may not know that Bill was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer before we left.
My first thought was cancel the trip and get his chemo started.  He insisted we go and
the Dr's all said have a great time.  The chemo will be there when we got back.

We have so much support from friends, family, Dr's and nurses.
Our faith in God is very strong and we have been flooded with prayers from
all over the world and we have felt them all.

His first chemo treatment went very well.
We are so blessed.
Monday will be his second dose.
Keep him in your prayer.

January 31 to February 1, 2019 Paris

We took the bullet train from Lyon to Paris.
There was a lot of snow.
Our hotel for the next three days is the
Hotel Sainte-Beuve.  It was amazing.

I peaked in some shop windows

as we walked around Paris looking for a place to have dinner.

We found this restaurant near the hotel.I had a salad and fish and chips. Bill had escargot, french onion soup and steak tartare

Our Normandy tour begins Point du Hoc.
During World War II it was the highest point between Utah Beach to the west and Omaha Beach to the east. The German army occupied the area with
concrete bunkers, buildings and gun pits. On D-Day
the United States Army Ranger Assault Group assaulted and captured
Pointe du Hoc after scaling the cliffs.

Blown out bunkers

Hospital

This bunker overlooked the water.
It is now part of a memorial.

The inside of the bunker

Holes left in the earth from bombs

Gold Beach
Aerial and naval bombardments before the troops landed had successfully knocked out some of the strongest German defenses around here.

This was a very moving tour and we didn't get to see much.
I would travel back here for a longer tour.
