January 25 to February 2, 2018 The Baja Tour

The Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with One Step - Tzu

We took that one step on January 25, 2018 with two other couples.

We all met on January 22nd at the San Diego Metro KOA.  It's a nice place but kind of tight.  We went to dinner with Flo & Bob at El Agave.
This was my first chili relleno and tuna.

 And the journey begins

This was our first pit stop after crossing the border.
I have to tell you that the border crossing was very easy.

Our first night on the road was in the town of Vincente Guerrero.
We stayed in a campground named Posada Don Diego and had a great first meal
at their restaurant. Eddy was a great host and the tequila was wonderful.
What a great way to start a trip.

Our second night on the road was spent at Guerrero Negro
at Mario's RV Park

The road in the campground was made from
scallop shells.

The restaurant had dirt floors and
the roof was a palapa.

There were piles of shells at the campground
and Flo and Mary found some gems.

After two nights at Mario's we got back on Mex 1 and headed
to Playa Santispec Beach and Mulege.

We made a stop in Santa Rosalia to admire the work of Gustave Eiffel.
The Church was designed by Eiffel in 1884 and installed in 1897

We dry camped on the beach at Playa Santispac.
It was beautiful.

This is Jake.  He wasn't a people fan unless
you had treats.  Then he was my side kick.
So grateful to his owners for sharing him.

Breath taking

Lucky for us Mary ran into an old friend from their tour days.
Salvador has a company that takes you on a hike to cave paintings.
This web site gives a lot of good info on the tour and the area of Mulege.

This is Salvador our tour guide

They just ran through

This is the smooth part of the road to
the ranch where the cave was

This was the hike WOW

This update brings you up to January 29th.
I hope you enjoy the photos and a special thank you to
Mary and Jim for planning such a wonderful adventure.
