May 24 - 31, 2018 More from Kentucky

Stitzel-Weller is a fairly new name distillery.
In 1987 Thomas E. Bulkeit , Jr. started producing bourbon from
his great-great grandfather's recipe.

Mr. Bulleit's office is in this building.

We were intrigued by the sward on the mantel.

If I ever have a house I want one of these.
The old barrel staves, metal and glass was beautiful.

There was not a lot going on here but they had the best
movie on the history of bourbon.  They also make products
based on people in history.  They make a Patton Armored Diesel.
Very interesting

This little girl in front did not like her photo taken
I thought this was so cute of the two pups.  I did
post it on their Facebook page.

This distillery burned in 1996.
The last time we were here The tour was pretty meager.
This year it was great.  They actually opened a barrel and let
you look and smell inside.

I like the light reflection in this shot.

I could spend a whole day in a barrel house watching
the light come through the windows.

A nod to the five Jewish men who
owned the company but did not know how to make bourbon.

The best tour we ever had was before they moved to the new show room.
Our tour was given by Jimmy Russell and it was fantastic.
We went back again after the move and it was not great.
We gave it another shot and this tour was wonderful.
We got to go into the rick house and got a lot a new information.

 We just liked this shirt

OK I just liked the picture
Matthew McCanaughey has his own bourbon, Longbranch.
I find this out after we leave Kentucky.

This company brews a bit of everything.
They had beer, gin and bourbon.
It was a nice history with an Irish heritage.

The mash bill ready to go

See the heart?

And with that we end our tour of the bourbon trail.
This area is beautiful and at the top of my list.
The next blog will still be Kentucky but there will be no bourbon.
