June 19, 2014 Dawson Creek

This is where we met our group from Fantasy RV Tours.

The  Kiskatinaw Bridge is the most unusual man made wood bridge, curving nine degrees along its 534 foot length.
It was built in 1942-43

Below is a statue of the founder of Dawson Creek  was named after George M. Dawson.  He was a noted  geologist who explored and mapped the region.  The statue was made from parts found along the Alaskan Highway.

Here is the beginning of the Alaskan Highway, Mile Post 0.  After Pearl Harbor was attached, the USA and Canada wanted to secure the border.  They new the easiest way into the United States was through Alaska.  The road was built to move supplies up the chain and prevent attack.  This road is like a snake to prevent accurate bombing.

And the flowers are beautiful.

The towns are beautiful and the people are wonderful.
I will tell you that I have taken TONS of photos and I only have room for the
really special ones.
Enjoy
